Richard Walker
Hi, I am Rick and I have been coming to Brownley Green Baptist since my Mum brought me to join the Boys’ Brigade at the age of five. I started attending the church and was baptised when I was sixteen.
Since then, my commitment and involvement has grown. I became a Deacon soon after I married Kelly in 2000 and I am still serving the church in that capacity.
We have three children, Joe, Saskia, and Elijah. Joe is in the army and both Saskia and Elijah attend church.
I am responsible for the technology used in church, making sure we have clear visuals and good quality sound in our services.
For the past ten years I have been Acting Captain of the Boys’ Brigade.
My other role is as Fabric Co-ordinator responsible for maintenance of the church buildings and gardens, and I am the Health and Safety Officer.
babajide taiwo
Hi there! I was born into a Christian Baptist family and had a spiritual encounter on Monday, December 12, 2005, at Victory Baptist Church in Iyana-Ilogbo, Nigeria. I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the ability to speak in tongues on Wednesday, December 14, 2005, and was later baptised by immersion on November 11, 2007.
My family and I joined Brownley Green Baptist Church on May 8, 2023. Feeling this was our spiritual home my wife and I became members later that same year. At the church, I soon became involved in preaching, leading Sunday services, including communion, and participating in various church activities, demonstrating my dedication to serving the Lord.
In 2024, I was nominated and elected as a deacon in the church. Before becoming a deacon, I had been engaged in many cross-cultural missions.
My past experiences mean I am a skilled and adaptable expert with knowledge in mission work, mobilization, and education, and I have a strong dedication to helping others. I have effectively directed and taken part in various mission initiatives and worked tirelessly to bring optimism, assistance, and relief to communities requiring the Gospel.
I am married to Olubukola Taiwo, a nurse in the United Kingdom, and we have two children, Ayanfeoluwa and Araoluwa.
Lesley Lambert
Hi, my name is Lesley Lambert and I Started going to BGBC to support our two daughters who had joined the Girls Brigade 36 years ago. I came to coffee mornings, Ladies fellowship, Sunday Services, social evenings and went on church holidays and was encouraged to become a member.
I went on to help run toddlers and carers group, eventually taking on the role of leader which I did for over 20 years. I was elected as a deacon some years later and I still have this role.
I attend Food for Thought an encouraging way to share prayers and Bible study. I have been married to Jim for 48 years and we have two sons and two daughters James, Stephen, Mandy and Becky.
Christine Hall
Hi there! I’m Chris Hall and I have been coming to Brownley Green Baptist for over sixty years! At the beginning of 2020, I was elected as a deacon, and I am still serving the Church in that capacity.
I am the Team Leader of the Girls’ Brigade although very much in an advisory position now. In the past, I have taught Sunday School and still stand in when necessary.
I enjoy taking family services and in recent years some of these have taken the form of café church. My experience of having been a high school teacher for over thirty years is beneficial when thinking about how to present the word of God to all ages.
Just recently I have taken on the role of leading our bi-weekly Bible Study – Food for Thought – it is a great privilege to share and discuss our faith and belief.
I am married to Steve and have four wonderful children, Ben, Alex, Nathaniel, and Abigail. We have also been blessed with three grandchildren, Betty, Celeste, and Lyra.
My other great love is drama, and I am Chair of a local Amateur Drama Society. When not doing church or drama work, I enjoy reading, traveling, sewing (usually for the theatre!), and gardening.
I love to incorporate drama into family services as a way of presenting God’s word.
Susan Harrop
Hello, my name is Sue Harrop, and I am currently the Church Secretary at Brownley Green BC.
I have been in attendance here since the age of 11 years – when I was casually invited to a mid-week Fellowship meeting by a school friend. That first meeting here – changed the whole of the rest of my life – although I did not know or understand it then!
The reason – first by the grace of God – and the warmth, love, and acceptance of our Fellowship here who welcomed me in. I was gently hooked!
In the years in between I have served as a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Club Leader, and Girls Brigade Officer.
I have had two long periods as the Church Secretary, ten years as the Church Treasurer, and then back to being the current Church Secretary.
I am getting on now! Married for 50 years – widowed for five years – but I have a lovely daughter (and son-in law) who visit when they can.
If you are looking for a local/friendly Church Fellowship – why not give us a try – you would be most welcome!
