We hold a regular Sunday Service at 11am worshipping and praising God. Our worship is a blend of modern and traditional hymns. The Bible teachings are relevant to all those seeking guidance and comfort in the 21st century.
During the service the children leave for the Light Club where they do activities related to Bible teachings taught at a level appropriate to their age.
The first Sunday of each month we hold a family service which may take the form of ‘Messy’ or ‘Café’ Church. These involve fun activities for all the family where we can explore faith in a relaxed atmosphere.
The third Sunday of each month, we share Communion.
If you are looking for a friendly, welcoming church, Brownley Green Baptist is for you!
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew18:20
Children are more than welcome in our church. We love to hear them and involve them in all our worship. The Church Service is relaxed and age appropriate.
The children leave the service after approximately 20 minutes to join the Light Club, an acronym for ‘Learning in God’s House Together’ and also, representing the Light that Jesus brings into the world.
Here they will learn more of the amazing love of God through activities such as games, crafts, Bible stories, quizzes and much more.
The first Sunday in each month is a family service. Every other first Sunday this takes the form of ‘Messy Church’, where both children and adults can learn more about the Christian faith through ‘messy’ activities!
Other family services may take the form of Café Church. This offers the opportunity for everyone to take part in the learning through activities and discussion with the added bonus of a cuppa, toast and pastries!
Other activities include:
The Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade
Carer and Toddler Group

Easter and Christmas
We celebrate all the key events of the Christian Calendar. Easter of course is the most significant and services are held on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. At Christmas time we have for many years held a Christingle on Christmas Eve which is a time to reflect on the coming of our Lord Jesus into this world and on the nearest Sunday to Christmas Day we hold Carols and Readings by candlelight. All are welcome to these special services. We also have a fellowship Christmas Dinner together.
The Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade also put on a carol concert and hold a party for members and the Toddlers get a visit from Father Christmas.
HARVEST
Every year in autumn we celebrate harvest when we thank God for his bountiful gifts as the hymn ‘We plough the fields and scatter’ says:
‘All good gifts around us are sent from heaven above….’
The donations we receive are sent to a local food bank.
CHURCH ANNIVERSARY
We love to remember our church anniversary as a celebration of the wonderful years God has blessed us as a community of believers. This often takes the form of a shared meal and/or social event.
CHURCH HOLIDAY
We have in the past organised a holiday together usually booking student accommodation in seaside university towns. This was a great way to share fellowship and get to know each other a little better. Unfortunately, costs have spiralled, and many cannot now afford such luxuries. Still, we have great memories!
CHURCH SOCIAL
The church also, has enjoyed many fun evenings through the years, including hoe-downs, quizzes, community singing and shared hot pots!
As we grow in strength, we pray, that we can again get together to share fun, fellowship and food.
We are There For You
We have a large hall, 2 other rooms, a lounge and kitchen all of which can be hired for private parties etc.
BAPTISM
We have a dedicated baptistry in our sanctuary. As Baptists we believe in ‘believer’s baptism’, that is when someone chooses to follow Jesus Christ. This is done by full immersion not ‘sprinkling’. When newborn children are welcomed into the church community, this is through a short service called ‘infant presentation’, or sometimes ‘dedication’, in which the child is blessed, and the parents and the congregation make promises. But they are not baptised.
MEMBERSHIP
Church membership helps to build strong churches by making sure that each church is supported by a core of people who are prepared to commit time, energy, finance and their own Spiritual gifts and talents to the building up of the body of Christ. Being a member therefore means becoming an active participant in the crucial work of sustaining congregations and passing on the faith to new generations. It also means taking a responsible part in the church’s government since church members share in the process of making decisions in Baptist churches.
